Local Community - Pro Bono
Pro Bono initiatives have been undertaken by members of the firm on an ad hoc basis for a number of years and there is a strong feeling within the firm of wanting to ‘give something back’.
Staff have been providing mentoring and work experience for students, volunteering as advisors for sports bodies and educational institutions, and providing free legal advice at Law Centres and attendance at the Principal Registry of the Family Division.
We have also advised a number of charities on a pro bono basis including those that provide assistance to children in need, those in the arts requiring additional guidance and a number of human rights related charities, including Amnesty International.
Our Pro Bono Group’s role is to consolidate these valuable contributions of the firm’s staff members into a single, harmonised initiative focusing on three principal areas:
- Supporting charities by providing them with general advice and participating in community involvement projects with them.
- Providing Free Legal Advice to a number of organisations through LawWorks and the Solicitors Pro Bono Group.
- Volunteering in local schools (we provide literacy and numeracy help in primary schools within the London Borough of Westminster) and offering "mentoring" opportunities for students.
