The Companies Act 2006

The Companies Act 2006 (the 'Act') is the result of eight long years of consultation, and is the biggest Act of Parliament in history. It introduces sweeping changes to company law, with the aim throughout being to simplify and improve it. Due to the huge effect that the Act will have, the government is introducing it in stages, with the first implementation date having been 1 January 2007, and the last date being October 2008. The Act will have a myriad number of practical implications for companies and a good working knowledge of the changes is essential. Due to its significance we have set up this separate area on our website, containing numerous bulletins and helpful advice on the Act.
